DENISE MCDERMOTT
MIKE KANE
This year Denise and Mike present two exhibitions in May. Denise’s features conceptual photographs and Mike’s features astrophotography.
Engaging Imagination Through Art. Denise’s exhibition, “What’s the Story”, invites you to use your imagination to find the story behind the images. This collection of artworks is designed to challenge and inspire viewers to look beneath the surface of the images before you. Denise has worked for the past year, collaborating with models, to create this exhibition. Her artwork is intended to engage viewers and encourage them to imagine the story being told. There is no single correct interpretation or storyline. There are as many stories as there are viewers. As you view each piece ask yourself: What’s the story?
Timeless Space. My fascination with the cosmos ignited 55 years ago with the historic Apollo Moon landing. In that moment, I was swept away by the vastness of space, a profound allure that has held me ever since.
Fast forward to today: I am now retired and in my late 60s, finally equipped with the time and tools to turn my dreams into reality. I capture breathtaking images of the universe—vivid snapshots that were just beyond my reach a mere decade ago.
Since I embraced the art of astrophotography, my mission has been clear: to share the awe-inspiring beauty of the night sky with everyone. The crisp, detailed close-ups of the Moon, with its craggy craters and serene plains, evoke a sense of wonder. The delicate, swirling bands of colour in the Rings of Saturn ignite the imagination. And when I glimpse distant galaxies and luminous nebulae, the sheer magnificence of the cosmos leaves me utterly speechless.
I wholeheartedly invite you to join me in this exhibition and immerse yourself in the stunning vistas of my astrophotography. Experience the magic of the universe as I see it — it's a journey that promises to inspire and captivate.
