Brian Barker

Have Brush Will Travel.

Brian’s work is mainly watercolour, a vast exploration of our natural environment from the coast to the outback . Brian uses a mixture of subtle washes through to the strong use of colour that he sees in the landscape. On show there will be medium to large paintings and some bold acrylics on stretched canvases and drawings, framed and unframed paintings. He spent fifty years in the printing industry as a retoucher graghic artist, twenty years as assistant secretary of the printing union. Brian holds a diploma in art from the East Sydney Art College. Brian has been involved with the Hastings art scene for the last twenty two years spending a lot of the time organizing art exhibitions with his wife Rita Carosi for the Hastings Valley Fine Art Assoc. He was president for twelve years on their committee, he also established HVFAA Gallery at William St, Port Macquarie .He is presently assisting in organizing the Bonny Hills Art Prize held annually, which last year attracted a 100 artists with prize money close to $10,000. Brian has been awarded many prizes for his work at various art exhibitions the latest, 1st prize for ‘watercolour’, at the HVFAA at Port Macquarie October 2022.
